In 1988, on Carlitos Balá's children's show, a felt toad in a red shirt and yellow suspenders hopped onto Argentine television. Kids across Latin America grew up with him. He had a name long before the internet gave one to anybody else.
The internet's frog turned up in 2005 — seventeen years late. The song went on to rack up 926 million views. The character became folklore. And then, quietly, he became a ticker.
Not a derivative. Not a fork. The source.
